Subscriptions explained

Ready to use the data in your research? Here's what comes with a subscription

When you're ready to unlock the complete datasets in the Dewey platform, it's time to become a paid subscriber.

How do subscriptions work?

With one annual payment, Dewey subscribers at all levels get:

  • Instant access to datasets - see the complete list included on the Data Partners page.
  • Research and classroom-permitted use
  • Unlimited projects and papers
  • Flexible payment types
  • Community access and support

Simply select your team size and process your payment information to unlock data access.

Selecting your team size

Dewey offers the below subscription sizes but is happy to accommodate more custom packages as needed.

The entire research team on a paper needs to be covered with your Dewey subscription, even if members are not touching the data directly.

Our research team options allow you to have cross-departmental and cross-university researchers on your team. Should your department or university get a license within 3 months your individual subscription will be refunded.

Payment processing

If you decided on one of the research team plans there are a few options for payment. Dewey accepts university credit cards, personal funding, or payment through procurement at your university.

Self-Serve

The self-serve option is perfect for researchers that have personal funding, plan to be reimbursed, a university credit card, or a related solution. Follow the steps below to gain access:

  1. Visit our subscription page to review subscription options through the online portal.
  2. Determine the proper team size and select Subscribe.

Once the payment has been submitted, you will be contacted by a Dewey team member to complete an onboarding form to help get your account set up.

Alternative payment options (university procurement)

  1. Reach out to [email protected] and specify your university name, department, and your team size.
  2. The Dewey team will reach out to work with you directly on next steps including collecting any required documents, generating purchase orders, becoming a registered vendor, and more.
  3. The Dewey team will generate an invoice to provide to you or your billing contact at your university.

After the invoice has been received, you will unlock access to the datasets included in the Dewey subscription.

Subscription terms

Subscriptions can be canceled at any time. However, it’s important to understand that Dewey subscriptions are licenses to access data, they are not purchases of data. Your “term” or “permitted use” with the available datasets is contingent upon remaining subscribed.

That being said, we understand the research lifecycle is long, and oftentimes you’ll need to retain a copy of the data for multiple years to successfully publish a paper.

To store a copy of any dataset post-term, you must have a paper accepted for publication and submitted to [email protected] before your term ends. You can only store a copy of the data used in this research and that data can’t be used for any other research.

Department or University Subscriptions

When multiple research teams at the same university or working in the same department could benefit from Dewey access, a department or university-wide license may make sense. These subscriptions include:

  • Discounted access for groups
  • Ability to collaborate with other Universities
  • Access for research assistants and students
  • Single sign-on (SSO) capabilities

Reach out to [email protected] to offload the time-consuming work of licensing individual data vendors.
