How do you define a research team?
Our Research Team license does not depend on the number of co-authors. However, the Dewey Research Team subscription only covers one team or a subset of that team. Members must work together on a project and cannot use the licensed data with other research teams unless that team or group is also covered by a license.
As a result, to ensure that all team members are effectively covered by the license, you should disclose all members to the Dewey team. This includes any co-authors and research assistants, even if they are not touching the data. This will also provide them with full access to the Dewey platform.
Our research team options allow you to have cross-departmental and cross-university researchers on your team. Should your department or university get a license within 3 months your individual subscription will be refunded.
If you need to make changes to your research team during your subscription, reach out to [email protected].

Payment processing
Once you decide on the package, Dewey offers a few options for payment. Dewey accepts credit cards or payment through procurement at your university.
Self-Serve
The self-serve option is perfect for researchers that have personal funding, plan to be reimbursed, a university credit card, or a related solution. Follow the steps below to gain access:
- Visit our Plans page to review subscription options through the online portal.
- Determine the proper team size and select
Subscribe
.
Once the payment has been submitted, you will be contacted by a Dewey team member to complete an onboarding form to help get your account set up.
Alternative payment options (university procurement)
- Reach out to [email protected] and specify your university name, department, and your team size.
- The Dewey team will reach out to work with you directly on next steps including collecting any required documents, generating purchase orders, becoming a registered vendor, and more.
- The Dewey team will generate an invoice to provide to you or your billing contact at your university.
After the invoice has been received, you will unlock access to the datasets included in the Dewey subscription.
Subscription terms
Subscriptions can be canceled at any time. However, it’s important to understand that Dewey subscriptions are licenses to access data, they are not purchases of data. Your “term” or “permitted use” with the available datasets is contingent upon remaining subscribed.
That being said, we understand the research lifecycle is long, and oftentimes you’ll need to retain a copy of the data for multiple years to successfully publish a paper.
To store a copy of any dataset post-term, you must have a paper submitted for publication and submitted to [email protected] before your term ends. You can only store a copy of the data used in this research and that data can’t be used for any other or new research.
