Research
Publicize your research on Dewey
Once you have an in-flight Project, you can make it public to other Dewey users. Making a Project public on Dewey allows it to surface on the Research tab, appear in search results, and be linked from the dataset pages of the datasets the paper uses.
This is an optional feature and can be toggled on or off for any specific Project.
Benefits of sharing research on Dewey
Surfacing research in the product has several benefits. First, as the author of a shared research paper, you increase the visibility of your paper to other researchers exploring or using the same datasets. Users exploring datasets or a relevant topic will be more likely to discover your paper and cite it in their research.
As a user exploring Dewey for datasets or ideas, viewing research associated with these datasets quickly helps you validate a dataset's quality and build trust in it, knowing that it has been successfully used in academic research. It may also seed ideas for new research topics by seeing multiple uses of a given dataset in one place.
How to publish your research on Dewey
When you update a project status to working, submitted or published a modal will appear with the following fields:
- Public Paper Link (required)
- Github Link
Additionally, there is a Make pubic on Deweytoggle. Be sure to fill in detailed Project settings, including a title, description, and teammates, before making your Project public.
Confirming Coauthors
The last step of this workflow will ask you to reconfirm the co-authors on your paper. We'll list any associated members on your Dewey project, but if there are other co-authors you plan to include in your paper, feel free to add them here. They will receive an invitation to Dewey so they can view your Project details. This also helps ensure you're in compliance with our terms and conditions, as all co-authors should be associated with your Project team.
What's next
As we continue to expand the scope of Projects and public research within Dewey, we're excited about the opportunities this will unlock. For instance, this may become a place where you can request feedback on a Project, or produce a replication package for a journal.
Keeping your Project info accurate and up-to-date is the best way to take advantage of the additional features we continue to build.
