Passby Retail Store Visits
PassBy Retail Store Visits
Overview
PassBy provides aggregated and anonymized foot-traffic and visitor-profile data for U.S. retail Points of Interest (POIs). The Retail Store Visits dataset contains foot traffic data for specific POIs, including weekly, daily, and hourly breakdowns of aggregated and anonymized visitor volume.
This dataset is structured at the store-week level and provides granular temporal breakdowns of visitor activity, enabling researchers to analyze patterns in retail foot traffic across different temporal scales. Visitor characteristic and psychographic data are produced in partnership with TransUnion using the CAMEO classification system.
Data Description
The dataset is organized with one row per (STORE_ID, WEEK_STARTING) pair, where each week always starts on Sunday and ends on Saturday.
Each observation includes the following variable categories:
- Store Identifiers
- Location Information
- Temporal Bounds
- Visit Metrics

Temporal Coverage:
The dataset is partitioned by WEEK_STARTING and provides coverage from 2019-01-01 through the present day (or latest refresh)
Methodology

Additional Notes
Placekey Matching
Pass_by provides a key matching dataset that allows you to join a Placekey to store_id. This will allow you to easily join this dataset to other Dewey partners that use Placekey as a unique identifier.
February 2026 Update
In February 2026, pass_by made a daily version of their visits data available. The structure of this data varies in that each row is now a single day per POI - in the previous releases, each row represented a single week with nested values for each day. Hourly visits by day are not available in this dataset.
The Placekey attribute is now included in the Store Info dataset.
