Questions on Verisk Dataset
I am writing to ask several clarification questions regarding the Verisk data, which I think the documentation has not written clearly.
1 - [Auto ownership data source] How is the Verisk Auto Ownership data collected? I saw the doc says ‘licensed data’ but it would be great to have more details. Is it a fusion of the DMV data? Or it is commercial data records of people buying vehicles? Also, does the ‘ownership’ here mean that this person is not carrying any lease/financial options over the vehicle?
2 - [Geocode] How is the Verisk data geocoded? Is it possible to know (1) what types of geocoder it is based on and (2) which version of census tract/blocks is it based on? The answer to the first question would be helpful for our benchmarking test, and the answer to the second would be helpful for data linkage with the shapefiles.
3 - [PID & HHID] How is the person (PID) and household (HHID) defined in Verisk Consumer Profiles dataset? Is it just a group of people living at the same address or is it the actual household? If it is the latter one, could you please provide more technical details on how this is collected/inferred/generated?
4 - [Follow-up on 3] Will all persons (PIDs) in the same household (HHID) have the same vehicle ownership or different ones of their own? This is a follow-up question on 3 and the reason is that if this comes from DMV data, the vehicle is registered per person; however, I would assume that people may drive each other’s car in a household.
