New Residential Proxy Data from IPInfo

Dewey is excited to bring IPinfo's Residential Proxy to Dewey subscribers. These data identify IP addresses being used as residential proxies, including mobile/carrier network proxies. Unlike datacenter VPNs or standard proxies which are easily detectable, residential proxies utilize IP addresses from real residential networks (home internet connections) and mobile carriers, making them appear as legitimate user traffic while masking the true origin.

These sophisticated anonymization services are increasingly used for fraudulent activities, unauthorized data scraping, and various security threats. Residential proxies are particularly challenging to detect because they appear as normal user traffic from legitimate ISPs, allowing malicious actors to bypass traditional proxy/VPN detection.

This will unlock research use cases around in subjects such as

  • Advertising: Combatting Ad Fraud
  • Security
  • Anti-Fraud
  • Anti-Scraping: Enhanced Bot Detection
